Record any app's audio.
Tonband records exactly the apps you choose — Discord, Zoom, your browser, Spotify — with or without your microphone. No drivers, no setup, and nothing ever leaves your Mac.

Add your mic
Capture both sides of a call or a lesson. Choose any input — the built-in mic keeps your headphones in full quality.
One file or separate tracks
Mix everything into a single file, or get one perfectly aligned file per app plus one for your mic — ready for editing.
Always one click away
Lives in the menu bar, starts and stops with a global shortcut, and shows the elapsed time while it records.
No drivers, no routing
Built on macOS's own audio capture. No BlackHole, no virtual devices, no fiddling with your sound settings.
Private and crash-safe

Questions
Which apps can Tonband record?
Any app that plays sound: browsers, Discord, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, Spotify, Music, games and more. Apps show up in Tonband's list as soon as they're running, and a speaker icon marks the ones playing audio right now.
Do I need BlackHole, Loopback or another audio driver?
No. Tonband uses the audio capture built into macOS 14.4 and later. Nothing is installed besides the app, and your sound settings stay exactly as they are.
Why does macOS ask for "System Audio Recording" permission?
That's the macOS permission that lets an app capture other apps' audio. Tonband asks for it the first time you record, and for the microphone only if you include it. You can review both in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
My Bluetooth headset suddenly sounds like a phone call.
When an app records a Bluetooth headset's microphone, macOS switches the headset into its call mode, which lowers the quality of everything you hear. Pick your Mac's built-in microphone in Tonband to keep the headset in full quality.
What happens when a free recording reaches 10 minutes?
Tonband stops and saves it normally — nothing is lost. A minute before, the menu bar shows a countdown and you get a notification. Tonband Pro removes the limit, even in the middle of a recording.
Where are my recordings, and in which format?
In Music › Tonband, as AAC (.m4a) or WAV. Separate tracks are saved together in one folder per recording.
Is recording calls allowed?
Laws differ between countries. Please make sure everyone in a call or meeting agrees to being recorded.
What do I need?
A Mac with macOS 14.4 Sonoma or later — Apple silicon or Intel.
